2010 Danskin Seattle

The 2010 Seattle Danskin was the site of the latest "Tri Way to the Danger Zone!" (TM) event featuring 3 grizzled veterans of the sprint triathlon distance, shown below:

The competitors were all smiles for the camera's before the start, but when the swim caps are put on, it's game time!

Adrienne was first out of the water, so fast with her 17:12 time that she eluded the staff photographers. Stephanie was next out of the water, 4:17 back:

Stephanie, full of waves and smiles

Jennifer was last out of the water, 3:38 behind Stephanie. Not to be outdone in the expression department, she executed a rare and difficult single person "YMCA" maneuver exiting the water:

Jennifer transitioning from swim to run

The 1st transition, from Swim to Bike, broke down as follows:

Adrienne: 4:54
Stephanie: 5:18
Jennifer: 5:45

Apparently the Wilson sisters need more PAM spray!

As the bike began, Adrienne was relishing her 4:41 lead, and took a moment to pose for the Tri Way paparazzi:

I'm a superstar!

Meanwhile, out on the I-90 floating bridge, Jennifer made her big strategic move, making up most of her time deficit, and nipping at the heals of her little sister:

Helmet straight? Check!

Stephanie finished the bike still in 2rd place - although analysts chimed in that they believe her performance was hampered by a strained muscle in her face from smiling non-stop for almost 2 hours....

You like me, you really like me!

For those keeping track at home Adrienne clocked at 43:47 time in the bike, good for 16.4 MPH. Jennifer's attack on the peloton resulted in a 46:03 time, and Stephanie smiled her way to a 49:10.

The 2nd transition, from Bike to Run looked like this:
Stephanie: 1:50
Jennifer: 2:15
Adrienne: 2:26 (although to be fair, Adrienne did have to put in a call to her agent)

As the temperature crept over 80 degrees at 9AM, the athletes started their run. Adrienne enjoyed a comfortable 9 minute lead and had the 2010 overall Tri Way to the Danger Zone! title virtually wrapped up. The Wilson-Sister Tri Way to the Danger Zone! sub-division trophy (WSTWTTDZ!SDT for short) was still very much up for grabs, with Stephanie starting the run with just a 1:22 lead.

It took a gritty performance by Jennifer, but she had just enough in the tank to pass Stephanie and secure 2nd place overall in the 2010 Tri Way to the Danger Zone! competition.

Jennifer protects her 2nd place standing, discarding her coaches advice of staying relaxed during the run

While over 3,000 athletes competed in the 2010 Seattle Danskin, only these 3 amazing athletes were selected for the elite "Tri Way to the Danger Zone!" competition within the competition.

Congratulations to all 3, and especially to our winner Adrienne. If you turn pro, don't forget about us little people!

Overall results:

Adrienne: 1:40:15
Jennifer: 1:51:58
Stephanie: 1:55:08

Finally - this blog of the highest journalistic integrity would be remiss if it didn't acknowledge that the founder and brainchild of the "Tri Way to the Danger Zone!" organization, Megan Anderson, competed in the relay against, well really, nobody else. But that hardly matters - she competed, and has the most adorable son, Jacob:
